The flip FLOPS

Posted by Unknown at Friday, February 07, 2014 0 comments
So because there has not been any mentionable fashionista-red-carpet-worthy event since the last Fashion Friday, we have decided to make a top five of the worst dressed at the Golden Globes, SAG´s and the Grammy´s. We don´t talking shit about people - yeah right! - so we have decided to condense the flops to only 1 blogpost and to only mention 5 shitty dressers.

TOP 5 WORST DRESSED:

Julia Roberts
Unflattering, boring and crotch disaster is what sums up Julia Roberts at the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2014. When we first the "dress" we thought: it does not fit her very well. When she then uttered that the dress was actually a pants suit, we thought: What the hell where you thinking! The cut was f***ing ugly, not to mention in the crotch area, and the color was just plain boring.
If we had a time machine we would have send that outfit back to the 70´s, but on the other hand that would not be fair to the 70´s. One thing should be said about dear Julia, her body and face looks amazing for her age.

Sandra Bullock
A lot of fashion critics raved about Sandra Bullocks dress at the Golden Globes, calling it amazing and inspirational: We are just gonna call it as we see it: A big, wrinkly, colorful mess. The cut of the dress is actually very pretty and fits her body nicely, but the rest is just plain WRONG! The colors are wrong, the fabric is wrong and her shoes do not fit this look. This year Sandra has shown a different look than what she usually sports on the red carpet: some have been okay and others, like this, have just been wrong. We are really excited to see if she continues this new fashion streak at the Academy Awards.

Madonna
The Grammy´s are known for their funky fashion, however to Madonna´s look this year, we just have one word: NO! For the Grammy´s it was to boring and for Madonna it was not re-inventive enough. Madonna is known for creating new looks and style for every album she has created and therefore she has become known as a creative style icon. This look however does not show creativity and her makeup and hair just makes her look really old. We know she is becoming an older lady, but Madonna keeps trying to convince us, that she is no such thing - but at the grammy´s that did not succeed.

Paula Patton
Best known for being Robin Thicke´s very understanding wife Paula Patton decided to show up at this years Grammy awards in a dress that made everyone go: Zebr-AAAAHHHH! The cut is not flattering for her body and even though animal print is rather fashionable, taking it this far is not.

Kerry Washington
Even thought we love Scandal actress Kerry Washington this two pieces dress was not lovable. The dress was very suitable for a barbie girl doll, but not for a real life human being. The top itself was very pretty, but the bottom part was really unflattering and we know she´s pregnant, but honey that ain't not excuse.

A Danish Tune

Posted by Unknown at Thursday, February 06, 2014 0 comments
Todays topic is all about the music and to be more precise, about danish music. All the writer of this blog Three Weird Girls and danish and living in Denmark, and we often find it a shame that danish music is over looked, in the international music industry. That´s why we have decided to share some of our favorite danish artists with you guys.

Go Go Berlin started in 2011 and have over the past year become a relatively famous name in Denmark. Even though they have only published one album so far, more and more venues are booking the band and they have even gotten an amazing review in the danish music magazine GAFFA. So they are definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Go Go Berlin - Raise Your Head

Alphabeat is a danish band that has become a household name in Denmark, the rest of Scandinavia and Germany. They decided to move to England, where they managed to become a band that a lot of people knew and listened to in the UK. The female front singer, Stine Bramsen, even made out with Katy Perry - True story! Sadly Stine Bramsen chose to focus more on her solo career in 2013 and 2014, and we can´t help but wonder if the band will ever make another album, but that does not mean you shouldn´t listen to their awesome tunes!

Alphabeat - Heat Wave

is one of the newer names in Denmark and she has decided to confront the music scene in a different way then some of the other female singers out there. By that we mean, many female danish singers are "pretty, adult-like, we keep everything nice", whereas the best way to describe MØ is by calling her the danish, female equivalent to Ryan Lewis.

MØ - Pilgrim

Oh Land is a danish female singer and her songs have been used a lot in American tv-series. She has had a lot of concerts in New York, so called her overlooked is maybe taking it to far, but we feel that she is so good, that more people should listen and buy her music.

Oh Land - White Nights

The next danish band has over and over again won the hearts of many people, at their concerts. Being one of the best danish live bands. They have existed for AGES and have a huge following of fans, us included - having seen them live three times already. They are known for their quirky name D.A.D. (Disneyland After Dark), colorful guitars and amazing personalities.

DAD - Sleeping My Day Away

The last one we feel mentioning is once AGAIN a female danish singer and she has won MANY awards already. She tends to win every year - it´s actually quite annoying. Her name is Agnes Obel, and her very fragile appearance, soft voice and slow songs has charmed people all over scandinavia.

Agnes Obel - Riverside

We hope that this little blog post has helped open your eyes to danish musicians and their music :D

Your Diet Is Everything

Hello there!
As you probably guessed through the headline, we are talking about diet today. And I don't mean a diet as in eating less and counting calories, but I mean your diet as in what you eat every day and how eating healthy can become a lifestyle.
I'm very much against cutting everything unhealthy from your life, that's no fun. You don't want to be that one friend who's just gonna stare at everybody else eating Ben & Jerry's. Nope, you don't want to be that friend.

First thing first, you have to learn to control your portions. If you, like me, treasure food more than anything it's sometimes very hard not over eating. This is all about self control and it's hard, trust me! There's no other way than to tell yourself, "stop eating". Once you get going it gets easier because you break a habit and when your stomach gets use to eating less you simply won't be able to eat big portions anymore.
A lot of people are afraid of feeling hunger, some people never get to feel hunger because they eat all the time. Tell yourself it is okay to be hungry when it's time for dinner and you will also enjoy it a lot more than before. Make food an experience for your tastebuds and taste every single bite rather than making it about eating as much as possible.

Water is also an important factor not only when working out, but in general. It's important to stay hydrated throughout the entire day and if you carry a water bottle around it's a lot easier remembering to drink plenty. Before dinner you can drink a big class of water which sometimes helps not to over eat.

The biggest problem most people run into when wanting to lose weight and get fit is doing without candy, chips and in general all snacks. These things along with high sugar drinks like a coke are a big setback from a fit body if consumed every day. It's been said that sugar is addictive and therefore a terribly hard habit to break. Again, I am against cutting sugar from your life completely, but eat it in moderation. I chose to not eat candy and not drink any high sugar drinks from Monday to Friday and that's working pretty good. Should it happen I'm asked out on a Wednesday and offered sweets I'm not gonna say no. You still need to remember to live a little, the point is you basically just have to do a lot of thinking when putting stuff in your mouth.

When all this is said, I found some recipes on my beloved Fitblr community on Tumblr where people share their ideas and thoughts about fitness and workouts and also very interesting recipes! I never been a fan of all the alternative "let's turn unhealthy things to healty things", but I came across some interesting stuff I really wanted to try out. I'm gonna post a few of them here and try to make some of the stuff doing the next week or two and show you guys the result!
Here's what I found:

On Sunday night, at around 7:30pm, things got very sad and confusing over at my twitter timeline.
(read from bottom up)
If your're confused about the whole twitter-timeline thing, the jest of it is that the Wall Street Journal's twitter account reported that actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment, and then followed by my tweet of utter shock and confusion. A lot of people were confused about the whole ordeal, because there wasn't any real confirmation if it was true or not.
But then about 20 minutes later, a lot of other news outlets started reporting it too, and we all had to accept that it was true.

Hoffman had allegedly died of an overdose at his home in Manhattan, police said according to the New York Post, which reports that the actor was found by a friend on Sunday morning.
Hoffman has been nominated for an Oscar three times for her roles respectively in Capote, Charlie Wilson's War and Doubt
He won the award for the former, where he played the role of the writer Truman Capote. In addition, he earned a Golden Globe, one Screen Actors Guild Award and a BAFTA.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was only 46 years old and he leaves three children, and his wife.
We´ll leave you with a scene from Charlie Wilson's War, featuring the late Hoffman and Tom Hanks.

We'll miss your contribution to the wonderful world of film, Mister Hoffman.
Rest in peace.

Frozen

Posted by Unknown at Monday, February 03, 2014 0 comments
So for this week I've picked a movie that's pretty accurate to the current weather outside.

IT'S FROZEN!
Ah, yes, I finally got to see this movie. And I must say it lived up to the hype in my opinion. I loved it. Although there were some parts I was confused about. Like how did Elsa walk all the way to the mountain in one day, while it took Kristoff and Anna like two days with a sled? Did she magic her way up the mountain? Probably.

But yes, Frozen is a story based on the Danish tale "The Snow Queen" by H.C Andersen, which I admit, I've never read, but I know the story because, well. I think all Danes do. But Frozen tell the tale of a fearless princess who sets off on an journey alongside a rugged, thrill-seeking mountain man, his loyal pet reindeer, and a happy snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.
I don't know what much to say about this movie? I liked the animation, the score, the songs, and the voice acting, and the story. Even though it was lacking a bit in some departments, but I kinda liked that it wasn't too heavy or too complicated. And it wasn't a typical romantic love story, it was a story about platonic love, love between family, in a different way than we normally see. Because it was sibling love, in this case love between sisters. And for once the girl got to be the hero(ine), and the male character was the sidekick.
And man, was Kristoff a delight to witness.
And Elsa's magic was wonderful to watch, especially when she started using it for real. And I've talked about my love for the song "Let It Go" before on this blog, so it's no surprise that the scene with this song was one of my favourites. Oh, speaking of favourites, I really loved Olaf the Snowman, especially because they didn't overuse him. (Or Sven the Reindeer for that matter). Typically with funny sidekick characters they tend to overuse them, basically forcing them on us. Which is why I still haven't seen Despicable Me 2, because all I've heard about it is "oh, the minions are so funny!" and not a single thing about the plot or say the amazing main character Gru? It was the same with Timon and Pumbaa back in the day. They went on to have their own show, and even their own movie. It was just all too much. They weren't that funny in the first place.
My point is; funny sidekicks are great for comic relief, but let them remain sidekicks, please.

But yeah, all in all I enjoyed this movie. Though not as much as Tangled, even though they shared some similarities (Sven and Maximus, anyone? Asking a stranger to take you on a journey?)

So I'll give Frozen;
4 weird girls out of 5
