Golden Globe Fashionistas

Posted by Unknown at Friday, January 17, 2014 0 comments

...Yes guys, FASHIONISTAS, which means that the best dressed at the Golden Globe this years goes to the ladys. Not really a surprise, even though the gents looked Ahh-Mahh-Ziing as well.

We Three Weird Girls love the award season that has started, so we all know the next many Fridays are going to be about the best dressed at the various award shows, which includes Grammys, SAG, Oscars, BAFTA and MANY, MANY more.

However to todays blogpost is going to be about the fabulous dresses from the Golden Globes and there were many to choose from, but here are our Top 5:

5. Amy Adams
Like an angel the American Hustle actress swooped over the red carpet at the Golden Globes and captivated every fashionistas eye. The very form fitting dress, looked amazing on her body and it was nice to see her in a very subtle dress, that because of the color managed to scream "HELLO" to everybody. Not to mention she snagged a Golden Globe, so it was a win-win situation. Congrats Amy!

4. Emma Watson
Emma Watson caught everyones eye in the Harry Potter movies and has since really managed to captivate the eye of the fashion world as well, and who would have thought that pants would look so fancy on a red carpet. The dress could be called a reverse mullet, however that would be an insult, so we are just going to let the picture talk for itself

3. Lupita Nyong'o
Okay, so we at Three Weird Girls, could say that we are caught in the red period, because our number three also wears a red dress, but the dominant color at the Golden Globes this year was red, so it´s inevitable.
Lupita Nyong'o was on everyones lips, as she posed with style and grace on the red carpet. The long sleeves, also called wings, on her dress, does not fit everybody, but Lupita really rocked the look. You go girl.

2. Emma Roberts
Julia Roberts niece, and yes, we are still referring to her as Julia Roberts niece, looked feminine and grown up, at this years Golden Globe. Maybe the rumored marriage proposal, has done her good. On previous occasions, the all american beauty, has always worn clothes to young for her age and body. This year, however, she popped on the red-carpet, even though the dress is simple and black.

1. Kate Beckinsale
She bedazzled all the romantics in Pearl Harbor and won over all the nerds in the Underworld trilogy, and after the Golden Globes all the fashionistas added this beauty, to their guidebook.
From a distance the dress looks like a medium grey, metallic dress, but up close, the dress was even more captivating than that. The beaded detail, or maybe beaded is not the right way to explain the detailed work on the dress, looked amazing, not to mention the dress fit her, as though it was drawn on to her body.

January Favorites

Because we think it's only fair, that our readers get to know us better, we thought it would be a great idea to create a monthly segment, about our favorites. So lets just jump right in to it.

Sindy's Favorites

Celebrity Style:
Currently I am aaaa-ddicted to the style of actress Elisabeth Olsen. Even though she has not been plastered in gossip magazines or fashion blogs lately, I still try to stay updated with the outfits she wears on a daily basis and on the red carpet. I really like her simplistic, retro style.

Makeup product:
Before you start your makeup rutine, you need to apply a good base. Many beauty blogger/vloggers always, ALWAYS apply Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer, and I agree that it is good, however this Christmas I got something better: Maybelline New York - 24hr Color Tattoo in 40-Permanent Taupe. It was a Christmas present, from my two best friends/co-bloggers and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE wearing on the days, where I have to rush out of the door. The only thing I need is that, eyeliner, mascara and than I have a foolproof makeup look for the day. Simple, light and it´s a shade for face shape and color.

Movie:
This month has more been a TV-series month for me, than a movie month, however that does not mean I can´t pull a fav movie out of my hat. And the award goes toooooo.....:  The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug. Although it was very long, I just love Peter Jacksons fantasy world (or technically it's J. R. R. Tolkien´s fantasy world, but Peter Jackson who visualized it, for us to lazy to read the books) and could disappear in for many hours a day, which is the only reason I would watch a movie that long.

TV-series:
My choice for favorite tv-series this month, might surprise you, however I have not stopped watching it for a second and yes, I have watched season 1 to 5 in only one month: it's RuPaul's Drag Race. I have always been a fan of Americas Next Top Model (ANTM) and Project Runway...Auf Wiedersehen...and RuPaul's Drag Race is a good mixture of both, but with more drama, makeup and bad clothes. It's Wonderful. The personality of all the participants, really wins you over, once you start watching it and the lip-sync-for-your-life part is priceless. So I only have one thing to say, Shante, you stay.

Annemette's Favorites

Book:
Oh dear. It's kinda hard to say one book, because I'm currently reading three. But I guess my favourite of those I'm reading now is.... Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. An oldie but goldie. It's my umpteenth time reading it, and it still holds up.

Movie:

Well, I've only seen two "new" movies this January. One was Desolation of Smaug and the other the Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth. Two very different movies. So I'm gonna be a little cheat and go with both. Because both are really great, and make me happy.

Song:

"Let It Go" sung by Idina Menzel from the Disney movie Frozen. It's just so empowering man. Just try listening to it at full volume while thinking about all the people who's keeping you down. "Let the storm rage on, the cold never bothered me anyway!"

TV-series:
Since my precious baby has just returned to me this month, after being away from me since August, I will pick Teen Wolf. Aw yeah, that silly little mtv show about teenage werewolf's with the slow-mo and dub step music. That one. There isn't much I can say about this show other than just go watch it. Embrace the awkwardness of the first season and roll with it. Embrace it, dude, embrace it.

Beauty vlogger:
I am addicted to the weekly uploads from Leighannsays on youtube! This girl is brilliant, I tell you! Most beauty vloggers take their job very seriously, which is good, I know! But this darling dares to bring in those comic relief in her sometimes 15 minutes long videos! Plus she knows what's up with cheap makeup and cute nail art. Thumbs up!

From her Instagram http://instagram.com/leighannsays

Makeup product:
Don't know if it's truely under the category "makeup product", but I'll give it a shout out anyway. Nail polish! And not just any nail polish, I am talking very cheap, very reasonable for the price and great quality compared to the ones I use to buy. Maybelline's COLOR SHOW are my best buy this month! Going in at only £3,5! Of course, I bought all the sparkly ones. I mean, I had to!

Just some of the colors I bought

Movie:
Yeah, I haven't been to the movies in a really long time, so the movie I've chosen is really old! Ten years to be exact. I saw it the other night and I almost forgot how good it was! Drum roll pleas.. Mean Girls! I mean, better dialogues just doesn't exist! The one and only time I'll truely enjoy looking at Lindsay Lohan! Plus, no matter how mean Regina George is during the movie, I kinda still wanna be her.

Run away from your problems!

Hi guys!
It is time for your weekly guilt trip! Yes, it is time to get off the couch and out in some day light! ... Or night light. Or the light in the gym. Whatever works for you! Doesn't really matter as long as those legs are running! You might ask, "what's so great about running anyway, it's so boring?!" Well, fear not my friend, there are a lot of reasons why you should go running! I'll tell you all about it!

1. Running = endorphins = a happier you = not killing everyone around you - yaaay!
2. Who doesn't look badass when running?
3. Your legs will be sexy as fuck.
4. People in their cars will look at you with guilt in their eyes. And maybe even cry a little over the body they'll never have.
5. You can buy trainers in the most obnoxious, bright colors and you'll still look fashin!
6. It's a way to transport yourself - to the local gym or to the local 7-Eleven to buy Ben&Jerry's, there's no judging. Well, maybe not from us, but can't speak for the guy behind the counter.

If that's not some motivating stuff right there, I don't know what is! Now, for you who's out there fighting the sidewalk already, you might need some motivating stuff too? So I'll give you this: My top ten running songs! It is so much easier feeling like a pro with some good tunes in your ear! This list is made from sweat, pain and a sore butt and I've been out there with music in my ears in a long time now. Trust me when I say, these are the tunes with the rhythm of a god when it comes to running!

Otherwise just look at my boobs. They'll tell you what to do! Good luck!

It's the splitting times

Even though we talked about the happy rumors that American Horror Story co-stars Emma Roberts and Evan Peters might have become engaged, the rest of Hollywood are calling it quits.
Some people would say that it is the Christmas curse; The happy holidays are over and reality kicks in.

Lately The Hollywood Gossip has posted nothing but splits and cheating allegations and some of the people who are in the-gossip-fire-zone are actress Hilary Duff, fashionista Kelly Osbourne and 90210 actress Tori Spelling.

Kelly Osbourne & Matthew Mosshart

                                                                  Tori Spelling & Dean Mcdermott

We singlets should be happy about the news that more people are on the market and that less happy-go-lucky couples are going to annoy us on a daily basis. But we can´t help to feel sorry about the use-to-be couples.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Posted by Unknown at Monday, January 13, 2014 0 comments

Now, firstly I will like to apologise in advance, if anything in this review isn't making sense. Because once I get going about something I love, I ramble. So bear with me.

Secondly, If you haven't read "The Hobbit", or seen the first movie ("The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"), you'll probably be a bit confused when watching this movie. So go and do one of those things now, and come back. This review will not be spoiler free.
In short this movie, is about the continued adventure of the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, and the dwarves. They're on the way to reclaim Erebor, the dwarves' homeland, from Smaug.

This movie, compared to the previous one, is fast paced and doesn't waste time. Personally, I liked the pacing of this movie a lot better than the last one, because we only had a little scene at the beginning that was slow paced, but then we where plunged back into action and the current story.
Another thing I liked about this movie more than the last, is that we get to know the characters more. The dwarves especially. Maybe it was because they where all running around. We learned more about Erebor,
Thorin and Bilbo in the first one, that I didn't feel like I got to know the other dwarves properly.
But that changed in this one. Most of the dwarves got their own little scene, with a dialogue (except Bombur, who didn't speak at all in this film). I guess it helped when they split up, when some of them stayed in Laketown and the rest traveling on to the Mountain.

One of the real great things about The Desolation of Smaug, is the addition of the two elves, who do not appear in the book; Leoglas and Tauriel.

I really liked Legolas in the Lord of the Rings movies, and I like the Elven race, so more getting more of Legolas is always a great thing in my book. (Also it gave Thranduil more screentime, so I won't complain).
Even though I really liked Tauriel, according to the rest of the internet, people have very strong opinions about her. Some are mad because she wasn't in the book and isn't a Tolkien original character, and others just think she is there as a love interest. But to me, her story seems less like a love story and more like a story about someone who desires to do what she feels is right, even when authority is telling her it's wrong. She sees a problem with the way Thranduil is running things and with the way Legolas is just following orders and doesn't complain. She is the only one not afraid to does something about the problem, and she doesn't let someone, who is innocent (Kili), die, when she can save him. She saves him because she can, and not because he might be a romantic interest. She does what is right, not to mention she looks badass while doing so.

I will try to wrap this up, because it's turning out to be a little lengthy. But all in all I personally liked this movie a lot more than the first one. As said before, I liked the pacing better, it made the three hours just fly by. Laketown was great (and by great, I mean awful), the barrel escape was fun and fast (although the sudden Go Pro footage was odd), I liked movie Bard better than book Bard, Smaug was amazing and wonderful, and Bilbo was brilliant.
It should however be said, that a second movie in a trilogy is what it is, a second movie. It is a filler, that needs to be placed between the first and the third one. In this case, it was a good filler.

So I would give The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug:
4 weird girls out of 5
