IT'S FROZEN!
Ah, yes, I finally got to see this movie. And I must say it lived up to the hype in my opinion. I loved it. Although there were some parts I was confused about. Like how did Elsa walk all the way to the mountain in one day, while it took Kristoff and Anna like two days with a sled? Did she magic her way up the mountain? Probably.But yes, Frozen is a story based on the Danish tale "The Snow Queen" by H.C Andersen, which I admit, I've never read, but I know the story because, well. I think all Danes do. But Frozen tell the tale of a fearless princess who sets off on an journey alongside a rugged, thrill-seeking mountain man, his loyal pet reindeer, and a happy snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.
I don't know what much to say about this movie? I liked the animation, the score, the songs, and the voice acting, and the story. Even though it was lacking a bit in some departments, but I kinda liked that it wasn't too heavy or too complicated. And it wasn't a typical romantic love story, it was a story about platonic love, love between family, in a different way than we normally see. Because it was sibling love, in this case love between sisters. And for once the girl got to be the hero(ine), and the male character was the sidekick.
And man, was Kristoff a delight to witness.
And Elsa's magic was wonderful to watch, especially when she started using it for real. And I've talked about my love for the song "Let It Go" before on this blog, so it's no surprise that the scene with this song was one of my favourites. Oh, speaking of favourites, I really loved Olaf the Snowman, especially because they didn't overuse him. (Or Sven the Reindeer for that matter). Typically with funny sidekick characters they tend to overuse them, basically forcing them on us. Which is why I still haven't seen Despicable Me 2, because all I've heard about it is "oh, the minions are so funny!" and not a single thing about the plot or say the amazing main character Gru? It was the same with Timon and Pumbaa back in the day. They went on to have their own show, and even their own movie. It was just all too much. They weren't that funny in the first place.
But yeah, all in all I enjoyed this movie. Though not as much as Tangled, even though they shared some similarities (Sven and Maximus, anyone? Asking a stranger to take you on a journey?)
So I'll give Frozen;
4 weird girls out of 5
