Flashback to the Oscars 2013

Here at Three Weird Girls, we are almost buzzing with anticipation. You could almost say we're vibrating with excitement over the upcoming Academy Awards. So in best warm up fashion, I thought it would be appropriate to take a little trip back memory lane. All the way back to the Oscars 2013.

And as always, the fabulous people are mentioned in a random order.

Jennifer Lawrence

It's no secret that we Three Weird Girls almost passed out with joy when we saw Jennifer arrive in this gorgeous Dior dress. The soft baby pink was such a lovely colour on her, and the classic simple updo was so fitting for her. And I especially loved her necklace, that went down her back. It was just so wonderfully different, and gave the whole ensemble an interesting feature.
This is clearly an outift that we'll lock back at with hearts in our eyes.

Amy Adams

Miss Adams has really made herself at home in our fashion beating hearts over the last few years, and she really hit it home at the Academy Awards last year. This powder blue, almost grey Oscar de la Renta dress is fit for a fairy tale princess (which Amy actually has played), and combined with (yet another) classic simple updo is just the icing on the cake.

Naomi Watts
Miss Watts was shining in this silver Armani dress, and with the special shoulder cut out, it was a sure hit with everybody.

Zoe Saldana
This dress from Alexis Mabille Couture made Zoe Saldana look even more like a goddess. The flow of the dress and the details around the hem, makes the dress stand out from the other simple fitting dresses at the awards.

Chris Evans
In the midst of all the pretty princess-y dresses, it's easy to forget the array of handsome men in suits and ties, but Mister Chris Evans is pretty hard to forget. Evans arrived in a snazzy black Gucci suit with a matching slim tie. For me personally, nothing beats a handsome man in a body fitting suit, and Mister Evans didn't disappoint.

Kristen Stewart
Not everybody is a fan of Kristen Stewart and her style, but personally I love it. I love that she doesn't really care about the critics wanting her to be more feminine and girly. But with this shimmering white Reem Acra gown, she showed people she could be feminine, but still maintain her personality. Her beauty look, consisting of coordinating red highlights and reddish eye makeup, was also stunning.

Sandra Bullock
Miss Bullock looked super glam in this slivery and halfway see through dress. It looked really lowkey but at the same time really classy, which is an art itself. And with the sleek straight hair it really was a beautiful outfit.

















Amanda Seyfried
Seyfried looked absolutely amazing in this gown by Alexander McQueen. The special neckline is what sets this gown apart from the rest of the silver-ish dresses at the Awards. Also the flowery pattern is so feminine and lovely.

















Louise Roe
Louise Roe is a fashion expert and it sure shows with this beautiful gown. It was a nice soft and feminine addition to all the dark and silvery dresses last year. Although I wish she would have done something more with her hair, but alas.

Eddie Redmayne
Chris Pine wasn't the only snazzy dressed male at the Awards. Mister Redmayne here also looked georgous in this slim ensemble. 


















Quvenzhane Wallis
Young Quvenzhane has more style than I could ever dream of, and she was only 9 years old at the time of the Awards last year. She is absolutely adorable in this dress, and it's also very age appropriate. It's something I would have worn when I was 10 and going to the Oscars. (If only). 

The Perfect Oscar Party.

Since the Academy Awards are this Sunday (2:30am for the bloggers on this site), we here at Three Weird Girls thought it was fitting to show you guys two different ways you can celebrate the glorious event.

Suggestion Number One: Party With Friends

What you'll need: Friends (duh), drinks, food, and of course a tv.

Before you call up your friends to come over, you need to set up your place and prepare. First off you'll need to decide what kind of food you'll serve your friends. If you're one of the lucky people who lives in a part of the world where the Awards will be shown at a decent hour, you might want to make a big fancy dinner. Or maybe even just a two course meal. You might want to go with a movie themed meal, inspired by the Best Picture nominees. You could for example make outer space–themed dishes for Gravity, or an appetiser of fruitcake and tea for Philomena. Or if you liked The Wolf of Wall Street, you could serve your guest an over-the-top menu featuring sushi, steak, lobster and lots of champagne (no drugs, please). But you may want to scale back this extensive menu. With so many extravagant dishes, you're likely to incur the wrath of your CFO and father for spending $26,000 on dinner. Whatever you choose, just get creative and have fun with it.
Next up is drinks! Now I personally don't drink alcoholic drinks (well, only this sparkling white wine), so you should check with your guest first, so that you'll be able to accommodate their preferences. Like a good host should. Also make sure everybody is at legal drinking age. (no under-age drinking here, okay?)
I found two recipes for fun drinks you could serve your friends to make the night better. Hopefully, you'll be able to get a hold of all the ingredients, or you might have to improvise a bit. Again, get creative. That's the key to a good party.

First one up is this snazzy little thing called:

Ginger Fizz:
(serves 8 people)

Ginger Syrup:

• 3" piece ginger peeled, thinly sliced
• 1/2 cup raw or granulated sugar

Cocktails:

• 2 750-milliliter bottles chilled Prosecco
• 8 thin clementine or orange slices.

For ginger syrup: 
Bring one 3" piece ginger, peeled, thinly sliced, 1/2 cup raw or granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Let cool. Strain syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a small jar or bowl; discard ginger.

DO AHEAD: Syrup can be made 1 week ahead. Cover and chill.

For cocktails: 
Pour 1/4 ounces ginger syrup in each coupe glass. Dividing evenly, top off with two 750-milliliter bottles chilled Prosecco (about 5 ounces per glass) and garnish each with a thin clementine or orange slice.

Followed by;

Cosmopolitan Champagne Cocktail:
(serves 10 people)
Ingredients

• 1 1/4 cups Cointreau or Grand Marnier
• 1 1/4 cups cranberry juice cocktail
• 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
• 3 tablespoons superfine granulated sugar
• 4 cups chilled Champagne or other sparkling wine

Stir together Cointreau, juices, and sugar and chill, covered, 2 to 6 hours. Just before serving, divide among 10 Champagne flutes and top off with Champagne.

Another thing you might want to do, is play games. Make up a trivia quiz about the Oscars, the actors, the movies and all that jazz! Challenge your friends, and maybe have some fabulous prizes lined up for the winners.

And then don't forget to actually watch the show when it begins! Don't have too much fun, so you'll forget it!

Suggestion two: Party all alone!
What you'll need: Whatever the heck you feel like needing, it's your own little party.

Normally, because of the late hour, I spend the Oscar nights alone, (in a dark room), so I can only say what I find useful at these things. One of the first things I always make sure to have is food. Since it's so late at night, I tend to get a little snacky. Two or three times I've made mini pizzas during the day, that I just heat up again when I get hungry during the show. This year I plan to make pigs in a blanket, because they're so easy. But really, it's all up to you and what you feel like eating. 

And then I basically just try to stay away with soda and candy and food. And texting with Sindy about the show (because I know she's awake too, also watching the show).So yeah, just go with what you feel is right.

AND HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE SHOW! 

Full Body Workout

If you're not a big runner there are alternatives to what you might do to get your heart rate up in the red zone. The good way! Not the red, RED zone, that's bad. But yeah, if you feel like sweating and don't like treadmills, biking or any other machine in the gym, you might like the full body workout. This is exercises working your entire body, using nothing but you and your body weight to do a great workout.
You don't have to run marathons to burn calories, these exercises will do fine for a workout at home.

Hunky Hotties

Let´s talk about the sexiest men of 2014. So we know the year 2014 just started, but that does not mean we can´t talk about the hunky hotties out there. Aaaaand by out there, we mean celebrities, NOT regular common people.

It is not surprise that we Three Weird Girls like tv-series Baby Daddy, not because it is well written or particularly funny, but because of the bunch of hunky hotties that are in the show, and to be more precise DEREK THELER! <3
The VERY tall actor/model has a spotless, flawless face and body and is sadly rumored to be dating Baby Daddy co-star Chelsea Kane, but that does not mean we can´t faun over him on a daily basis.

Even though two out of the Three Weird Girls have the rule: "date-no-man-smaller-than-yourself", we can´t have a hunky hotties list, without having The Hunger Games hunk, Josh Hutcherson, on it. The best part about him is that he is in the same age area as us three weird bloggers, so we have followed his movie career from the very start. And where many childhood actors tend to parish with age, it seems like Josh just gets cuter and hotter with age, sadly not taller, but in dreams anything can happen.

 TOM HIDDLESTON! Need we say more; NO! So instead we are just going to add this super cute video of the hunk dancing. Seriously, watch it!

Okay the next hunk is one that has followed the fitness guru Nanna and me through thick and thin the past 5 years and he is still in our hearts. Alex Pettyfer! When we first saw him as Alex Rider in Stormbreaker (P.S. the WORST movie ever), then in Wild Child and then in Beastly, the british heartthrob has won us over every time. Even though he sometimes seems like an ass in interviews, his body totally makes up for it. Superficial? Ehhh YEAH! Not to mention is magical role in Magic Mike, which brings us to the second to last cutie on the list; Channing Tatum!

Channing Tatum seems to have everything; good looks, talent, charm and humor. COME ON! Stop being so perfect all the time!

Let´s take another one for the cheap seats in the back...

Sindy´s Old man crush;
Okay the reason I am writing the next part on my behalf is because I do not believe my co-bloggers Nanna and Annemette agree with me. But ever since I saw the movie The Fabulous Baker Boys, I have had a MAJOR old-man crush on Jeff Bridges. Many girls/women have George Clooney as there grey-fox crush, but to be honest he has never been to my liking. Jeff Bridges however has the scruffy, bad boy (man) look and is really charming to listen to in interviews.

Gravity

So I always try to watch all the nominees for the Oscars, so I'll have a better chance at picking winner. Although last year, I only watched about 4 out of the 9, but ay. I at least watched the winner, and I loved that one. But this year, I've planned to watch 7 out of the 9. And as the title of this post informs you, I'm starting this Oscar party out with Gravity, because, well, it has the shortest playtime of them all. 

Gravity is about Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) who is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone- tethered to nothing but each other and spiralling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

This movie, as a lot of reviewers have said, is really scary. Not in a horror movie way, like the boogy man is gonna come after you. But in a "god I never want to go into space, it's too freaking big and I will surely die". Space is scary as frick, man. 

But yeah, if you like suspenseful movies with events that makes you realise how small and how big the universe is, then by all means go watch Gravity. My only regret about this movie, is that I never saw it in 3D, but then again, it would have made the whole thing 30x more creepy.

So, all in all I give Gravity;

4 out of 5 weird girls (and maybe even an Oscar for Best Movie?)

BAF - ashion - TA

Uhh how creative we were with the headline of this post - don't cha think?!?
This weeks fashion friday is all about last weekends BAFTA's, and if there is something we three weird girls love; IT'S BRITISH FASHION!
So we are not gonna drag it out, but simply going to mention our BAFTA top 5 fashion choices and uhh there were many interesting fashion outfits.

* NOTE the top 5 are mentioned in a random order 

5 Amy Adams
Amy looked rather serious throughout her entire red carpet performance, but her dress was really pretty anyways. The ensemble would have been perfect with some colorful jewelry, to take the seriousness out of her look, mainly because her hair looks really scraped back, black dress and a rather serious facial expression. But the dress on it's own has a beautiful cut and drapes her body perfectly.

4 Angelina Jolie
We don´t know if you remember or top flops post, from two weeks ago, where we hated Madonna´s little suite look at the Grammy's. No?!? Well Angelina Jolie rocked the suit outfit at this years BAFTA's. She looked like she just hosted an event and now when it was over she decided to open her shirt and untie her butterfly. Her flowy hair was really suitable for the look and in general she really rocked the grungy, suit and tie (or butterfly) look.

3 Naomie Harris
Colorful dresses with belts on the waist, was a popular fashion choice at this years BAFTA´s and another one who rocked it, was bond-babe Naomie Harris. The mixture of a dress and a suit was a rather grown up fashion choice, however the color managed to add some youthful playfulness to the look, which we really liked. Not to mention the deep plunge in the front, was really beautiful and made sure the dress did not drown her body completely.

2 Lupita Nyong'o
Can this woman not do anything wrong. She has been on our award top five list every single time and for our BAFTA list, she joins the top 5 once again. Lupita has shown us colorful dresses that match her skin tone, her body and the awards shows perfectly. It is nice to see a woman who is not afraid of wearing very colorful dresses. We are definitely going to keep a sharp eye on her future fashion choices.

1 Samantha Barks
Some might call her dress boring, we however call it stunning. The Les Miserables beauty looked absolutely royal, when she arrived in a nude, strapless dress. The amount of jewelry was just right, her hair and makeup was perfect and the nude color was the perfect shade of nude.

London Necessities

So are you going abroad in the near future? Yeah...No...No matter what, keep reading because we´re about to tell you just what you need in your handbag.
In just two days I am flying to London for a weeks vacation and that means I have to start packing my bags. So why not give you an insight in what I normally carry in my handbag.
Sadly the amount of stuff I can have in there is limited, because of the whole "you can not bring any liquids" etc.
The plan when I pack my handbag is, that I need to be able to survive in a foreign country with the stuff I have in there, in case my luggage gets lost on the way.

THE PERFECT BAG
First you need to find a bag, that is not only perfect for traveling, but also perfect for shopping. So size and functionality matters! I´m bringing my trusty bag from Accessorize the Mari Tote, that has been with me to London before. The size is perfect for all my stuff, plus there is still room for buying something on the way.

THE NECESSARY ELEMENTS
Next are all the travel necessities; which means all the stuff that helps you get from one country to another; passport, wallet, phone, drivers license, money, boarding pass etc.

I got the wallet from my grandmother when she passed away, british pounds, my danish passport, the boarding pass from Billund airport and my trusty Iphone 4 

ENTERTAINMENT
Then you add all the stuff that can help to entertain you during the long travel. In my case it only takes two hours, but that means I still need to be entertained for 2 hours. I bring a book, currently I´m reading the last Harry Potter book, my Ipod, *make sure you have downloaded new music, so you don´t have to listen to all the old crap, and a magazine, with all the latest gossip.

I swear to the Ipod classic, Bloombury´s edition of Harry Potter, such a pretty cover!

MAKEUP
I always bring a little makeup for the flight, so my face doesn´t look like a person who has just been traveling for two plus hours. Plus, I also do it in case my luggage disappears, so I don´t have to buy tons of new makeup upon my arrival *I´m probably going to buy a lot of makeup anyways :D

The Bioderma is not part of my handbag since it is more than 100 ml and therefor not allowed onboard the plane.

And there you have it. My handbag, nothing fancy, but it has the right amount of stuff, without becoming to heavy to carry.
